Fresh salmon eggs are too valuable to waste—especially after you've put in the work to bring home an Alaska salmon. Nate's Bait Lunch Lady Egg Cure gives you a simple, one-step process for turning fresh roe into cured bait that's ready for your next trip.
This Black Cherry formula gives your eggs a rich, dark presentation while taking a lot of the guesswork and mess out of curing. One 16 oz container cures approximately 20 lbs of skein or single eggs, so there's plenty here for putting up bait during salmon season. Nate's describes Lunch Lady as an easier, cleaner, faster curing process, and we're all for spending less time messing around with cure and more time fishing.
Black Cherry Lunch Lady is made for curing salmon roe and single eggs for bait. For Alaska anglers, cured eggs are particularly useful when fishing for:
For every 1 lb of roe, place the eggs in a sealable container and sprinkle them with 3 tablespoons of Lunch Lady Egg Cure. Whole skeins can be opened and cured whole or cut into clusters first.
Allow juices to develop for approximately 12 hours, turning the eggs several times so they develop an even color and cure. Leave them at room temperature for a total of 24 hours and they're ready to fish. If you're saving them for later, Nate's recommends draining approximately half the developed liquid before freezing.
Wear heavy-duty rubber gloves and work somewhere with good ventilation. Black Cherry cure can stain your hands and work surfaces—and explaining why the kitchen counter changed color probably isn't the highlight anyone wants from bait-prep night. Keep the cure, brine, and finished bait away from kids and pets, and read the complete product label and warnings before use or storage.
It's straightforward. Three tablespoons per pound, give it time to work, turn your eggs periodically, and you've got cured bait without turning the whole process into a chemistry experiment.
The Black Cherry option also gives anglers another presentation to keep in the bait arsenal. Alaska fish don't always read the same menu we do, so having a few different cured egg colors available isn't a bad strategy.
Sold individually in a 16 oz resealable container. One container cures approximately 20 lbs of skein or single eggs.
Lunch Lady Egg Cure is also available from us as separate listings in Iridescent Red, Natural, Orange, and Ruby Red, making it easy to stock several different egg presentations for Alaska salmon season. Nate's Bait produces all five colors in the Lunch Lady series.
This product is available for shipping and in-store pickup when ordered online.
